What is a Bounce Rate?

A website’s bounce rate indicates the percentage of users who try to access one of its pages but decide to leave before interacting.

More About Bounce Rates

It’s common for users to visit a website but decide to leave either before it finishes loading or before interacting with it. Analytics software counts these visits as part of a site’s “bounce” rate.

Websites with high bounce rates tend to offer a poor User Experience (UX). That may be due to long loading times, complex website layouts, or other elements of the site’s design that push users to opt for alternatives.

Research shows that the standard bounce rate for most websites is around the 26-55% range. That means this is a relatively common occurrence. However, if you find that your website’s bounce rate starts to climb, it can be a source of concern.
